STANDARDISED KPIS ACROSS THE BUSINESS

Reconciliation by design

Standardised KPIs are not a glossary exercise. They are the smallest cell of the Recurring Revenue Intelligence model: one measure, one customer, one product, one journey stage, defined once, computed once, consumed everywhere. Everything else on this site depends on getting this layer right.

Why teams report different numbers

Even a company with fifty dashboards and every KPI imaginable still struggles to answer specific questions, because each system embeds a different answer to five quiet questions. Standardisation means answering each of them exactly once.

01
REVENUE BASIS
Bookings at contract value, contracted ARR, or revenue recognised under IFRS 15?

Each is legitimate; the standard states which measure answers which question, and keeps the bridge between them explicit.

02
TIMING
Signed date, start date, invoice date or recognition period?

Multi-year deals and mid-cycle changes make timing the largest single source of variance between sales and finance views.

03
CUSTOMER IDENTITY
Is the customer the billing entity, the legal entity or the operating parent?

Without one hierarchy, the same group is three customers in one report and one customer in another.

04
PRODUCT IDENTITY
Is a bundle one product, or the sum of its components?

Bundles booked as one line blend the economics of their components. Unless revenue is allocated to components consistently, product-level numbers cannot agree anywhere downstream.

05
STAGE OWNERSHIP
Whose funnel is the funnel?

Marketing's funnel ends at MQL, sales' begins at SQL, and each defines conversion against its own denominator. One journey spine gives every stage a single definition and a single owner.

The standard, layer by layer

Five families of measures, each computed from the same unit cells. Because every family shares the same customer, product and journey keys, any measure can be cut by any perspective without re-derivation.

Top line

The board's opening position, stated once.

ARRRevenueGP & EBITDAActive customersGRR & NRRSales vs target vs forecastAvg revenue per account
+The measures · specificsExpand
ARRcontracted annual recurring revenue; opening and closing balance per period, per cell
Revenuerecognised under IFRS 15, reconciled to ARR through the movement waterfall
Gross profit & EBITDA contributionproduct cost carried per cell, so margin cuts follow revenue cuts
Active customersthe count of operating parents holding live ARR per period; the denominator behind every per-account measure
GRR & NRRthe headline retention rates stated once at board level, computed in the retention family and consumed here without re-derivation
Sales vs target vs forecastactual sales, target and forecast held in the same structure, so variance analysis is native rather than a separate model
Average revenue per accountARR per active customer, trended per period and sliceable by cohort

ARR movements

Every change in the book classified exactly once. The waterfall sums to zero residual.

New businessfirst contract with a new operating parent (not merely a new billing entity)
Expansion / contractionvalue change on an existing product holding: seats, tiers, usage bands
Cross-sell / down-sellcomponents added to or removed from the holding; bundle changes decompose to components
Churn & winbackfull loss of the holding, and its recovery, dated, reasoned and attributed; unpaid and open-to-close renewals tracked as their own components
Backdatinglate-entered and corrected orders restate the periods they belong to automatically, so history stays true and the waterfall still sums to zero residual
Nine reconciled componentsopening · new business · winback · renewal expansion · product cross-sell · renewal contraction · unpaid · churn · closing, each sliceable by tier, region, industry and product

The movement waterfall: nine components, zero residual

Opening to closing, every movement classified exactly once. Because the components are computed from the same cells, the bridge always sums, in the format valuation models ingest directly. Illustrative year, indexed to opening ARR = 100.

What one number per question unlocks

Executive reporting without preparation

Top-line metrics, value-driver waterfalls and variance analysis assembled from live cells. SLT and board reporting turnaround reduced 30%.

Commercial reporting by cohort

Industry × product × region × tier reporting on one basis, so "which cohorts drive growth" is a filter, not a project.

Automated QBR & executive narrative

Reviews generated from live ARR movements with a GenAI narrative over a governed layer. Preparation drops from hours to minutes.

DATA-LED FORECASTING
A forecast built on data, not instinct

Forecast baselines are calculated from historical pipeline velocity, win-rate trends and cohort seasonality, not a sales rep's gut call or a manager's optimism. Any human override is logged against that baseline, turning forecasting from an opinion into an auditable calculation everyone can see and challenge.

HOW THE DEFINITIONS GET AGREED

Data KPI literacy

We bring all relevant business functions (Sales, Product, Finance, Customer Service and others) into the same room to agree KPI definitions that are aligned to the organisation's strategic objectives and respective industry standards.

STANDARDISED, NOT COPIED

Rather than adopting industry-standard KPI definitions as-is, we ground the calculation logic in how the sales process and underlying systems actually work. The definitions stay industry-standardised, but the calculations are tailored to the organisation's systems and processes.

The standard under scrutiny

Built to withstand due diligence

The multi-year ARR movements bridge is the primary input to any recurring revenue valuation model; GRR and NRR are the two KPIs institutional investors and M&A advisors use to benchmark quality. Because the Recurring Revenue Intelligence model computes them to one agreed definition, per period, per cell, the same numbers the business manages to internally are the numbers advisors can interrogate directly, with vintage cohort analysis, first-year cohort churn and an IFRS 15 revenue-recognition bridge available as governed views, not diligence-week projects.

I · GROWTH STORY
A multi-year ARR bridge

Growth decomposed into new business, expansion, cross-sell and true churn. Sliceable by product, region, sales tier and operating parent, so the levers behind the headline number are visible.

II · COST AND RISK
An IFRS 15 compliant triangulation

ARR triangulated to recognised revenue, with a single enforced definition of ARR, GRR, NRR and churn. Investor and management numbers reconcile.

III · EXIT READINESS
A governed valuation data foundation

Auditable, multi-year KPI datasets structured for direct use by M&A advisors. Diligence runs faster, and the equity story is furnished with metrics.

80%+
reduction in valuation-reporting preparation for a PE-backed recurring revenue business at exit
9
ARR movement components reconciled in the multi-year valuation bridge
5+ yrs
of auditable ARR history, structured for direct ingestion by valuation advisors
100%
of recurring ARR mapped to the commercial-parent hierarchy for concentration analysis
